Dedication of 14th Cavalry Regimental Gallery at the Armor/Cavalry School Uniform and horse at entrance of Armor/Cavalry School The gallery presents the history of the Regiment’s five eras, 1901 to present, narratives, images and artifacts, many of them authentic and actually used or worn or awarded to members of the Regiment dating to 1912. Note the nearly six-foot wide photo above the left case. It is a panographic of the entire horse mounted Regiment at Ft. Sam Houston, Tex., taken, probably in March-April 1920, before he Regiment marched from April to August that year to Ft. Des Moines, Iowa. The notebook on the short display case contains photos and written memories by men and women who have served in the Regiment. The delighted and expectant crowd awaits the arrival of BG David Lesperance, Chief of Armor and Commandant of the School. The museum-quality, education-focused gallery is 50 ft long, 12 feet deep and has some 150 items in 10 glass, secured display cases. Donated by Nola Crawford, granddaughter. Pommel Pockets, circa 1912. Held the Preston kit (canteen, mess pans, tin cup. knife, fork, spoon).
